Client was criminal charged with Forgery and Theft in the Second Degree, both class “D” Felonies. Ms. Cheeks’ case went to trial to a jury with the State relying on photographic evidence and bank account records as evidence. Mr. Crowdes defended Ms. Cheeks based on her lack of involvement. After approximately 45 minutes of deliberation, the jury found Cheeks not guilty on both counts.
November 2015 – Reckless use of a Firearm

Reckless Use of a Firearm with Serious Injury (Iowa Code 724.30(1)). Charges Dismissed.
Attorney Zachary D. Crowdes successfully defended this criminal case wherein his client had been accused of firing shots into an occupied apartment building and injuring a person inside the building. A teenage female suffered permanent injury from the gunshot, causing her leg to be permanently paralyzed. Mr. Rupp was originally held in custody on an unreasonably high bond; however, Attorney Zach Crowdes successfully had the bond greatly reduced and Mr. Rupp was released while the charges were pending. Through attorney Zach Crowdes’s defense and investigation of the case and discussions with the prosecuting attorney, all charges were dropped prior to trial and Mr. Rupp was not convicted of any charges.
